Volvo Cars has just revealed its all-electric Volvo EX60 to the world, and given us a
first look at the EX60 in another flavour, introducing the newest entry in
its popular line-up of Cross Country models.
The EX60 Cross Country seeks to provide customers with all the benefits found in
the EX60: good electric range, fast charging, and state-of-the-art technology that
makes life easier, safer, better and more enjoyable.
I remember driving the first Cross Country model across the Mourne Mountains,
back in 1997, and like all since, they come with a robust, bold and distinctive design
Erik Severinson, Chief Commercial Officer, commenting on the new Cross Country,
said, “The EX60 Cross Country is the EX60 for anyone with a ‘go anywhere’
attitude. Built to do more and see more, the EX60 Cross Country embodies not only
the sense of exploration but also a reflection of achievement. We basically
invented this segment and we felt the EX60 was the perfect next Volvo to get
the Cross Country treatment.”
It will come with a new colour, Frost Green, which is exclusive to this car and reflects
the inspiration Volvo Cars designers find in Scandinavian nature. The EX60 Cross
Country also carries several unique design details that emphasise its special place in
the Volvo Cars line-up, including special wheels exclusive to Cross Country models,
as well as Cross Country branding in the front and rear bumpers, plus on the D-
pillar. Skid plates in brushed stainless steel at the front and back emphasise the car’s
expressive look, while wider rugged wheel arches further enhance its overall
presence.
As an SUV, the EX60 Cross Country provides the higher seating position will appeal
to many customers. The Cross Country sits another 20 millimetres higher off the
ground, and with the help of the air suspension, drivers can add another
20 millimetres of riding height if needed. The air suspension can also lower the car,
which enhances high-speed efficiency, stability and aerodynamics. This is especially
helpful for drivers that travel a lot on motorways and want to maximise the range of
the battery.
The Volvo EX60 Cross Country is now available for pre-orders in some European
markets, with more markets to follow later this year. Customers can choose between
two all-wheel-drive powertrain options: a P10 AWD Electric with up to 640 km of
range which is the first variant to become available, followed shortly after by a
P12 AWD Electric with longer range.
