Being the first European Motor Show of 2019, the up-coming Geneva Motor Show, (7th -17th March 2019), gives us a chance to look and hopefully touch some of the transport delights soon to roll on our town and city streets.

Mention the letter ‘R’ next to a Volkswagen and it is always worthy of a closer look. Having enjoyed many miles in a Golf R, Volkswagen are now going to tempt us with a potent variant of their popular crossover, the T-Roc, with their Geneva stage hosting the arrival of the T-Roc R concept.

We welcomed the VW T-Roc in November 2017, coming with its own swagger inside and out, into a very competitive and popular sales segment, where since then it has sold around 200,000 units worldwide. With the new T-Roc R, VW now looks to lure those seeking all the advantages of this semi high-rise SUV, with a very definite sports-drive experience.

This new T-Roc R was developed and tested extensively by Volkswagen, including at Nürburgring – no surprise there! The development of the vehicle was also supported by the racing driver expertise of WRX World Champion Petter Solberg and Volkswagen works driver Benjamin Leuchter. With such lineage, one can only hope that concept becomes a reality later.

So as you know, Volkswagen R is a 100% owned independent subsidiary of Volkswagen AG. The letter R has stood for racing since the first model, the Golf R32, and expresses the close connection to motor sports.
