MG Motor Ireland announces dealers and models

The MG brand will make an electric return to the Irish market this month, with a family friendly range of electric and plug-in hybrid cars. Under the stewardship of the very experienced Frank Keane Group, the reintroduction of MG to the Irish car-park adds a real ray of sunshine to 2021, in the aftermath of the gloom of 2020.

Owned by SAIC Motor Corporation, a Chinese state-owned company, the MG brand has been around since 1924. It now has some serious momentum behind it, which will be reflected in the range it offers and the price it asks.

The first MG ZS EVs are already in Ireland for immediate sale. This will be followed by the All New MG5 EV Sportwagon and MG HS Plug-in Hybrid Midsize SUV, both of which will be on sale in the coming months.

Coming with five-star Euro NCAP safety, with high levels of technology and a seven-year warranty, MG ZS EV is priced from €28,995, and seeks to be a real option for private, fleet, and corporate customers across the country.

MG will initially be sold through six appointed dealerships in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, and Tipperary. A number of the Dealers are very recognisable names and have a long heritage within the motor industry in Ireland, a real statement of intent for the MG brand.

The MG ZS EV and the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid EV will debut in all showrooms in December.

MG ZS EV

The MG ZS EV, compact SUV Crossover, comes with a range of 263km.

MG ZS EV Excite

Clever design details like the toggle switches and rotary dial are used for operation of the EV drive modes. This specification is standard across all grades with prices starting from just €28,995 for the MG ZS EV Excite.

MG ZS EV Exclusive

To upgrade to the MG ZS EV Exclusive will cost an additional €3,000 with prices starting from €31,995. In addition to the equipment on the Excite, the Exclusive trim includes:

·         Heated Front Seats

·         Power Adjustable Driver’s Seat

MG HS Plug-in Hybrid EV

The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid EV, is a mid-sized, 5-seat, family SUV, with luggage capacity of 448-litres. 

In pure EV mode the HS PHEV has a 52km driving range from a 90kW Electric Motor, which can suit the daily driving needs of many drivers. A full recharge is available in three hours.

The MG HS also includes the MG Pilot suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and boasts generous levels of standard equipment, such as:

·         Power Adjustable & Heated Driver’s Seat

·         Rear Cross Traffic Alert

·         360-degree Camera

·         Digital Drivers Information Display in addition to a 10.1" Colour Touchscreen Infotainment System

Pricing for the HS Plug-in Hybrid EV range starts from only €33,150 for delivery in early 2021.

MG5 EV Sportwagon

The MG5 EV Sportwagon will be available from early 2021 and boasts an EV driving range of 345km and luggage capacity of 578 litres (loaded to the roof), rising to 1,456 litres with the rear seats folded.
