Toyota Ireland has been awarded the Green Fleet Hybrid Award for the new Toyota RAV4 by Fleet Transport Magazine. Five vehicles were shortlisted for the award in the Irish Fleet Car of the Year 2019 awards, with the RAV4 coming out on top scoring a total of 571 points compared to 521 achieved by the runner up in the category.

The judges were impressed by the stylish look and design and commented on the infotainment system, the smoothness of the drive and the efficiency of the self-charging hybrid system.

The RAV4 has been a runaway success since its arrival in Ireland in early January with a huge demand for it from both fleet and retail customers.

Lars-Erik Aaroy, Commercial Director at Toyota Ireland said: “We are delighted to win the Fleet Car of the Year award in this prestigious category. The new RAV4 Hybrid makes tremendous strides in fuel economy, driving pleasure and overall premium feel. RAV4 will be the car of choice for many company car drivers.”

Cathal Ryan, Fleet Sales Manager at Toyota Ireland added: “This award illustrates that hybrid technology delivers more for fleet customers. The new generation self-charging hybrid vehicles are more fuel efficient, resulting in a significant reduction in NOX and CO2 emissions. On average, hybrid drivers spend up to 60% of their travel time in full EV mode. There is no requirement for the vehicle to be plugged in which means that there is no infrastructure investment needed from companies. With fewer engine parts to maintain, no clutch, alternator or starter motors, hybrid vehicles are the ideal solutions for fleet customers”.
