BYD EXTENDS ‘BLADE BATTERY’ WARRANTY

New Energy Vehicles are those predominantly powered by electric propulsion, the
term now inserted as part of our motoring vocabulary.
BYD, imported and distributed here by Motor Distributors Limited on Dublin’s Naas
Road, is a major manufacturer of NEV’s and has consolidated its Irish presence by
impressively extending the warranty cover on BYD Blade batteries to 250,000kms,
or eight years – applicable to existing cars as well as new purchases.

Alongside increasing the warranty mileage limit, a move which it says is designed to
further strengthen consumer confidence, BYD has retained the existing duration of
cover at eight years and a guaranteed minimum State of Health (SOH) of 70%.

Blade battery technology is at the heart of all BYD's New Energy Vehicles, powering
all electric and Super Hybrid models. In addition to the battery warranty, BYD cars
also feature a basic-coverage warranty of six years or 150,000km, along with a 12-
year, unlimited-mileage anti-corrosion warranty and cover for the electric drive unit
of eight years or 150,000kms.

The Blade battery is made using lithium iron phosphate chemistry (LFP), a
technology that offers greater safety, durability and sustainability, while eliminating
reliance on valuable materials such as nickel and cobalt and reducing environmental
impact.

Noteworthy is its blade-shaped design whereby each cell functions as a structural
element to increase torsional rigidity and provide protection against impacts and
deformation.

In extensive load and endurance testing, it has been shown to exceed 3,000 charge
and discharge cycles, with a service life equivalent to 1.2 million kilometres.

Thanks to these innovations, the BYD Blade battery sets a new standard in safety,
reliability and performance, delivering significant driving ranges — such as 570km
for the BYD SEAL Design — or high charging speeds, such as those of the BYD
SEALION 7 Excellence AWD, which has a maximum DC charging power of 230 kW
and can charge from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
