Reviews: Fiat Tipo Saloon joins us in January

Having recently launched their Fiat Tipo hatchback and station wagon, Fiat have just announced their pricing for the Tipo saloon, which goes on sale on January 1st, with prices starting at €16,745.

We were very impressed with the room available, specification and drive quality of the hatchback and station wagon, so expecting similar in this new saloon is a given. It measures, 4.53m long, 1.79m wide and 1.49m tall, with a boot capacity of 520 litres. Loads of up to 1.8m in length can be carried courtesy of its flip-and-fold 60/40 split rear seats that provide a completely flat load floor.

Tipo Saloon Trim & Specification

The Tipo saloon will be offered in three trim levels, Pop, Easy and Lounge.

Pop trim comes with air conditioning, remote central locking, front & rear electric windows, body-coloured door mirrors with electric adjustment, six airbags, chrome door handles, split rear seats, a front seat centre arm rest, full size spare wheel, USB and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel remote controls.

Those going Easy trim add, a five-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, rear parking sensors and cruise control. The price for the Easy trim level trim is currently set at the same price (€16,745) as the entry level Pop by way of a consumer offer for Q1.

Lounge trim level, with a price walk of €1,250 above the equivalent Easy version adds, satellite navigation, climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic lights and wipers, rear view camera, driver’s side lumbar support and a chrome pack all as standard.

Tipo Saloon Engine Range

Four engines, two petrol and two diesel make up the range. The petrol variants are a 1.4-litre, 16v, with 95hp and 127Nm of torque. It has a CO2 emission rating of 133g/km. The other petrol option is a 1.6-litre e-TorQ engine, with 110hp and 152Nm of torque, this engine is combined exclusively to a six-speed, torque converter automatic transmission. It comes with a CO2 rating of 146g/km.

The two turbo-diesel engines are, a 1.3-litre MultiJet II, 5-speed manual, delivering 95hp and 200Nm of torque, and a CO2 emission rating of 98g/km.

The 1.6-litre MultiJet II, is matched to a 6-speed transmission, and produces 120hp, with 320Nm of torque and a CO2 emission rating of 110g/km.
