AA Ireland charge ahead with EV partner Ohme

Cork-based smart charging company Ohme is the new official EV charging partner
for the AA Ireland.
The agreement will see the AA recommend Ohme EV chargers as all part of its wider
programme to encourage more drivers in Ireland to make the switch to electric. The
AA also offers EV-specific insurance and is currently offering three months of free EV
insurance for its customers.
“Our partnership with the AA underlines Ohme’s position as one of Ireland’s fastest
growing smart charging companies,” said David Watson, CEO at Ohme. “The AA is a
trusted, household brand in Ireland and Ohme has just been named the Best EV
Chargepoint Manufacturer in the recent Irish EV awards, so this is a perfect
partnership bringing the benefits of off-peak charging with reduced running costs to
EV drivers in Ireland.”
“We are delighted to announce that we will be partnering with Ohme as our official
home charger supplier,” said Tom McIlduff, CEO at AA Ireland. “Ohme’s award-
winning ePod and Home Pro chargers and reputation for excellent customer service
meant it was the obvious choice for The AA and a great way to collaborate with a fast--
expanding Irish business.”
Priced from €1099, Ohme’s range of smart chargers can connect seamlessly with all
of Ireland’s electricity suppliers and automatically adjust an EV’s charging for drivers
to take advantage of off-peak tariffs.
For instance, charging a 77kWh Volkswagen ID.3 from zero to 100 per cent with an
Ohme EV charger on an off-peak tariff, such as SSE Airtricity’s Night Boost, (SSE
Airtricity Night Boost tariff – 9.53c/kWh), could cost €7.34 for an electric range of
more than 574kms (WLTP Combined). Over a year and 10,000kms of
driving that would equate to running costs of less than €130.
Ohme also offers drivers the option to charge their car when renewable energy
generation is at its highest, further lowering their CO2 impact. Ohme is the official
EV charger provider for the Volkswagen Group, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars and
Polestar in Ireland and has worked with several other partners including
Donegal County Council and Iarnród Éireann.
